What this tool is
A study aid for medical students, residents, and educators learning arterial blood gas interpretation. The engine implements standard textbook formulas (Henderson–Hasselbalch, Winter's, compensation rules, anion gap, delta-delta, A–a gradient) using reference ranges you can configure to match your institution.
What this tool is not
- It is not FDA, CE, MHRA, or otherwise regulator-cleared.
- It is not a substitute for clinician judgement or institutional protocols.
- It does not account for the full clinical context — history, exam, trend, co-morbidities, medications.
- It must not be used at the bedside in lieu of validated decision support.
Accuracy
We strive for textbook accuracy, but no warranty of correctness or completeness is offered. Reference ranges and compensation rules vary across sources and institutions. Always cross-check against your local lab's reference values and current guidelines.
If you are a clinician
Treat any output you see here as an educational hypothesis, not a recommendation. Diagnosis and treatment decisions remain your professional responsibility.
If you are a patient
This site is not intended for patients. If you have a medical concern, contact a qualified healthcare professional or your local emergency service.
